Gloria F. Dorris, 79, of Prescott Valley, born Jan. 11. 1927, in Hammond, Ind., died Friday, March 10, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital
in Phoenix.

Private family services were held, and a public memorial service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan's Purse or the First Baptist Church of Prescott's Missions Commission.

Gloria Ford Dorris, 79, of Prescott Valley, died March 10, 2006, of heart failure. She was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Hammond, Ind., the daughter of William and Suzanne (Boze) Ford.

She graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, Ind., in 1945, and attended Indiana University Northwest Campus.

In 1948, she married Paul Dorris. She raised her family in St. John, Ind., and in 1975 she moved to Clearwater, Fla. where she and Paul owned and operated Sewell Signs, Inc. until 1993. In 1994, Gloria retired and moved to Prescott Valley.

Gloria was very active in the churches that she attended. In Indiana, she attended the Lake Hills Baptist Church in Schererville and the Community Bible Church in Cedar Lake. In Florida, she attended the Lakeside Community Chapel, where she served on the missions commission and was also a deaconess. In Arizona, she attended First Baptist Church in Prescott, where she served as a deaconess as well as a counselor in the Steven's Ministry.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul Dorris; daughter Susan (Russel) Paluszcyk of Prescott, Ariz.; son Dennis Dorris of Chicago, Ill.; and daughter Judy Dorris of St. Petersburg, Fla.

A memorial service celebrating her life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2006, at First Baptist Church, Prescott, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan's Purse or the First Baptist Church of Prescott's Missions Commission.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
