Beatrice Belle (McKinney) Colfer

Beatrice Belle (McKinney) Colfer, 87, of Prescott, born July 22, 1918 in St. Louis, Mo., passed on April 3, 2006,

Beatrice moved to Prescott in 2000 and quickly became a good friend to many, especially in her apartment complex, Casa de Pinos, where she participated in potlucks, card games, and bingo with her good friends.

She loved to watch Arizona Diamondbacks games with family and friends. She was featured in a Prescott Courier news article about the comfortable lifestyle that subsidized housing afforded her.

Beatrice was also a huge fan of the Prescott Meals on Wheels dining room, and rode the van daily to have her lunch and visit her friends. She became a "poster girl" for Prescott Meals on Wheels in their publicity flyer.

Her sunny disposition, her humorous wit and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her.

Beatrice is survived by her daughters, Vicky O'Hara (Pat) of Prescott and Patricia Edwards (John) of Brighton, Colo.; sons, Stan Kwasny (Jackie) of South Carolina and Randy (Rosie) Kwasny of Florida; foster-son Joe (Wendy) Pennello of New York; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren,

Beatrice was predeceased by two husbands. Her second husband, Joe Colfer, was the love of her life. She was also predeceased by three children and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 8 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez arid Carleton in Prescott. A celebration of Beatrice's life will follow at the funeral home. A private cremation will take place at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley and inurnment will follow at a later date in New York.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to the Prescott Meals on Wheels, in Beatrice's name.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.
