Jason Lewis Solomon passed from this life on Jan. 23, 2009 at his home in Brunswick Hills, Ohio. He was born April 19, 1971 to John D. Solomon and Oraline Solomon Jorgenson in Oklahoma City, Okla.

He attended grade school, middle school and high school in Las Vegas, Nev. where his family moved in pursuit of his father's career. When Jason was 5-years-old he was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes from which he suffered all of his life. Within the past three years, he was the recipient of donated organs, which sustained his life until the time of his death.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Oraline and Eric Jorgenson of Hinckley, Ohio; his father and stepmother, John and Sheila Solomon of Prescott; his sister and husband, Jennifer and Joseph McGivern; and son Joey of Detroit, Mich.; his stepbrother and wife, Victor and Cathy Sendlein and their children, Betty and Milas of Logandale, Nev.; and his stepsister and husband, Laurie and Joe Crowder and their children, Colton and Marcus of Gilbert, Ariz.; his uncle and wife, Edward and Dee Solomon of San Antonio, Texas; and several cousins.

As a child, Jason was involved in athletics, participating in soccer, football, wrestling and baseball. He also played saxophone in the school band and studied the piano and bass guitar. Always hearing a different drummer, as a young adult he traveled with a rock and roll band.

In his adult years, he was an avid reader, focusing on United States and Civil War history. He was also a dedicated sports fan, especially loving football and soccer on television. He knew the team and player statistics of almost every team in the National Football Conference and loved to analyze games before and after they were played, sharing the information with family and friends.

While his life was difficult, Jason maintained a positive outlook, his sense of humor and a special compassion and kindness towards others. On his many stays in the hospital, even as he was trying to deal with his own problems, he would always seek out people of all ages who were suffering, often spending time with them, trying to comfort and cheer them. He was always kind and polite to his caregivers in the hospital, thanking them for his treatments. He loved and was greatly loved by all of his family. He will forever be cherished in our hearts for his courage and compassion.

A Memorial service to honor his life will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association.
