Born in Belen, New Mexico on Oct. 12, 1921.
Departed on Sept. 9, 2008 and resided in Flagstaff / Cottonwood, Ariz.

Manuelita Lucero-Pena, formally of Flagstaff, passed away in Cottonwood, Ariz., on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the age of 86. She was born October 12, 1921 to Eduardo and Silveria Torrez in Belen, New Mexico; where she grew up. She attended Jarales Elementary and the Belen High School.

During her time in Flagstaff she was an active member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She served on the Bereavement Committee and as President of the Guadalupanas. She was also a member of the Triangulo Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicolas T. Lucero; and her daughter, Senaida Maria Salazar.

Survivors include her sons, Nicolas M. Lucero (Lucian) of Cottonwood, Ariz.,, John Lucero (Ramona) of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Mike Salazar (in-law) of Cottonwood, Ariz.; her daughters, Virginia L. Gonzales (Joe A.) of Winslow, Ariz., and Irene Dominguez (Jesse) of Flagstaff, Ariz.,; three brothers, Ben Torrez (Christina), Martin Torrez (Barbara), Elmo Torrez (Almeda)- all of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Celso Torrez (Rose) of Pecos, New Mexico; her sister, Carmelita Torrez of Phoenix; as well as, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Westcott Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to begin at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place Friday morning, September 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde, Ariz.

Interment will follow at the Clear Creek Cemetery.
