Born in Newark, New Jersey on Sept. 20, 1926.
Departed on Sept. 3, 2008 and resided in Cottonwood, Ariz.

Ernest Hartmann, loved and known as "Ernie", 81, resident of Cottonwood, Ariz., passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born September 20, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey to Frederick Ernest and Emma (Lange) Hartmann.

Ernie attended Utah State University from 1948-1952 from which he received his Bachelor's Degree; later he attended the University of Utah from 1968-1972 where he obtained his Doctorate's Degree.

Ernie taught Parks and Recreation for over 20 years at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. He was also a WWII Veteran; having served his country with the United States Navy.

Ernie was always very active with the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. He also enjoyed bird watching and had the opportunity for world travel.

Ernie leaves behind his wife, Beth Hartmann of Cottonwood, Ariz.; his son, Alan Hartman with his wife, Mary Jo of Salt Lake City, Utah; his daughter, Pam Lovejoy with her husband, Kim of Waudesha, Wisconsin; his sister, Lore Ullrich of Union, New Jersey; and his grandson, Zeke Hartmann of Salt Lake City, Utah.

A Memorial will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1377 Hombre Drive in Cottonwood on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 3:00pm. Following the Memorial, a Reception will be held at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Avenue in Cottonwood at 4:00pm.
