| Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory Mesa, Arizona Connie Wood Patterson March 2, 1931 ~ October 8, 2012 Connie Wood Patterson of Gilbert, AZ, passed away on 8 October 2012 at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, Gilbert, AZ, surrounded by family, which family was most precious to her and to which she devoted her life. She touched hundreds of lives through her selfless service to family, neighbors, friends, and church family. Connie was born 2 March 1931, in Bloomington, Idaho, to parents of stalwart pioneer heritage of faith and courage. Her family soon moved to River Heights (Logan), Utah. Her parents, Lyle Levon Wood and Ida Jarvis tenderly raised Connie and her two younger siblings to love God, education, music and theater. As a young adult, Connie attended school and worked at Utah State University. She met her sweetheart, Lloyd Leonard Patterson, from Paul, Idaho, in the University choir, finding a mutual love of music that enriched their lives and which they later instilled in their children. They married 12 June 1952 in the Logan Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following Lloyd's graduation from Utah State University and graduate school at Oregon State University, they purchased their first home in Mesa, AZ, where they raised their children and where Connie lived for more than 50 years before moving to Gilbert. She loved serving for more than 10 years as a church service missionary at the Church Distribution Services store near the Mesa Arizona Temple. She had high energy and developed her homemaking talents to an admirable degree, served avidly in the Temple and was a prolific family historian. She loved God, family, church and country. She left a wonderful legacy to her posterity of faith and devotion to each. Connie is survived by her brother (spouse) - David (Judy) Wood, four sons (spouse) – Gary (Laurie) Patterson, Duane (Rosanne) Patterson, Darin (Chablis) Patterson, Glen (Denise) Patterson, two daughters (spouse) – Cherie (Gary) Harris, Shauna (Matt) Guthrie, 28 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Patterson, her parents, Lyle and Ida Wood, sister, Colleen August and grandson, Jonathan Lane. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 13 October at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1865 S. Higley Road, Gilbert, AZ. Family and friends may call at viewings on Friday, 12 October from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 North MacDonald, Mesa, AZ, and on Saturday, 13 October, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. (preceding the funeral) at the Church. Interment will be at Mesa Cemetery next to her sweetheart, now no longer separated these nearly 30 years.
