ELZA M. EASTER, Mesa, Ariz.

Services for Elza M. Easter, 84, former Winterset resident who died Jan. 26, 1988, at Mesa, Ariz., were held at the First Christian Church in Winterset Jan. 30, with the Rev. Gene Dye of West Des Moines officiating. Burial was in Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Norwalk on Aug. 22, 1903, he was the son of A. E. and Emily Anderson Easter. He was married to Odessa M. Graham in September of 1978.

Mr. Easter was one of the founders of the Easter grocery store chain with a store located in Winterset and other Iowa towns.

He lived in Mesa for the past 12 years and had also lived in Des Moines after retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of Mesa; a son, Jack L. Easter of Spencer; stepsons, Jack Graham of Mesa and Ernest Graham of Sun Lake, Ariz.; a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Provost and husband Rick of Creston; a step daughter, Mrs. Virginia Jones and husband Hubert of Winterset; brothers, Lynn and Donald of Des Moines and Lowell of Florida; a sister Edna Morse of Des Moines, 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez Galloway Easter, and his second wife, Myrtle L. Saum Easter; parents and a great grandaughter.
