Geraldine (Poole) Border

Geraldine Border, 91, of Bozeman, Mont., formerly of Cottonwood, and Walla Walla Wash., passed away Jan. 23, 2009.

She was born to the late Arthur and Margaret (Mullinex) Poole on Jan. 19, 1918, in Marsland Neb.

Geraldine excelled in school, and went on to college and received a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Foods and Nutrition, following with a M.S.H.E degree from University of Washington, she worked many jobs in the prior to graduation, homemaker and mother being her favorite.

Following graduation, Geraldine was Chief Dietitian at several hospitals in Washington and Oregon, through the '60s '70s and '80s, when she retired from Sydney Adventist Hospital, in Sydney Australia, in the mid-1980s.

While Geraldine was going to school she met and married, Lester Arnold Border on June 6, 1939, in College Place, Wash. Together they raised two children. She worked her whole life in nutrition and taught cooking class throughout the world. She was devoted to her career, all the while raising a beautiful vegetable garden wherever they lived.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents her husband of 65 years, her son Lewis, in 1974, and 2 sisters Pansy Aultman and Lora Angel

She is survived by her loving daughter Sylvia (James) Grindley of Bozeman, Montana and their children, Geraldine¹s grandchildren, Robert (Julie) Gates and their sons Robin and Jamie, of Bozeman,Montana and Suzi (Duane) Tasker and great-granddaughter Emily Compton and great grandson Noa Tasker all of Kennewick, Wash. Geraldine is also survived by brother Arthur (Mabel) Poole of Milton Freewater, Ore, and sister Gloria (Gilbert) Garver of Candler, N.C.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews all who are special in her heart.

Memorial Service and Internment will take place in College Place, Wash, later this spring.
