The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Tuesday, February 03, 2009 Joseph (Jim) Kirby, 85, of Cottonwood, Ariz., died Jan. 29 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born April 11, 1923 in Rockford, Ill., the son of Joseph C. and Lettie McGee Kirby. Mr. Kirby was a self-employed welder and construction worker. He was an ordained minister and was baptized at the Park Church of Christ. His hobbies included fishing, welding and traveling. His wife, Edna Kirby, preceded him in death. He leaves a son, Robert James (Phyllis) Kirby of Marissa, Ill.; stepson and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Downs of Darrington, Wash.; daughters, Sharon L.(Monte) Phelps of Henderson, Nev., Lettie Holland of Las Vegas, Nev. and Lydell Kirby of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Duane (Charlene) Kirby of Cottonwood; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
