John L. Sutherland

Born in Springville, Nova Scotia, Canada on May 5, 1920.
Departed on July 17, 2008 and resided in Cottonwood, Ariz.

John L. Sutherland, 88, of Cottonwood, Ariz., died July 17. He was born
May 5, 1920 in Springville, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Stanley and
Mary McLean Sutherland.

He was a graduate of Austin High School in Chicago and attended
Northwestern University . Mr. Sutherland worked in industrial sales for
C. R. Daniels, Guardian Metal Sales, Paulik Brothers, Stewart-Warner and
later was sales associate for J. C. Penney Auto Center .

His proudest achievements were as a member of the Austin High School
Fencing Team in 1938 and becoming a naturalized citizen of the United
States in 1954.

His hobbies included fishing, hiking, travel, reading, puzzles and his
pets. John was known for his sense of humor, his devotion to his work
and his family and his kindness to animals.

Mr. Sutherland is survived by his wife of 67 years, Georgia and a son
Stanley E., wife Dawn Sutherland of Cottonwood, Ariz.

There are no public services planned.

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) 424 E. 92nd St., New York,
