| Leland W. Civish Born in Genoa, Nebraska on April 23, 1920. Departed on July 10, 2008 and resided in Cottonwood, Ariz. Leland W. Civish, 88, resident of Cottonwood, Ariz., passed away at the Cottonwood Infinia on Thursday, July 10, 2008. Leland was the son of Grover and Hannah Civish; being born April 23, 1920 in Genoa, Nebraska where he grew up and graduated from the local high school. While in high school, Leland was the all state forward for the school's basketball team. He served his country during WWII as a Corporal in the United States Army and also attended Cook School. For his dedicated service he received the Good Conduct Medal, and was recognized as a Sharp Shooter. Professionally, Leland worked as a painter, drywall and paper hanging contractor. He was also the owner and operator of a fishing resort. He loved fishing, and had won multiple trophies. Leland also loved square dancing, and he enjoyed it so much that he became a member of the Caller Lab; as well as a national square dancing teacher and caller. Leland also found enjoyment in learning how to paint pictures with acrylic paints. Leland leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Arline Civish of Cottonwood; two daughters, Dr. Gayle Civish of Colorado, and Joyce Cave, husband, Dr. Robert (Bob) Cave of Cottonwood; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter. Graveside Services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Prescott, Ariz. on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., where Leland will be recognized with full military honors.
