Kathryn (Sayers) Langsen

Katherine Sayers Langsen, a licensed marriage and family counselor, died of cancer at home on Sunday. She was 67.

Born in Prescott, Ariz., she graduated from the University of Arizona and received her master's degree in educational psychology from Hayward State. She conducted her counseling practice under the name of Kay Hayes.

A direct descendant of Roger Williams, leader of the second trip of the Mayflower to Plymouth Rock and founder of the Colony of Rhode Island, Langsen was qualified as a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution. She was a longtime member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Parish in Danville and was elected to the vestry for several terms.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold Langsen of Danville; daughters, Valerie Hayes Bemus of Manteca, Nancy Hayes Wood of Los Angeles and Patricia Hayes Gibson of Pinetop, Ariz.; son, Frank H. Hayes IV of Boise, Idaho; brother, Robert Sayers of Misawa, Japan; stepmother, Eleanor Sayers of Arizona; and nine grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 1550 Diablo Road, Danville, Calif.
