Bowman, 84-year-old mother of Everett Bowman, died Saturday, Dec. 6 in Community Hospital here. A resident of Arizona since 1913, Mrs. Bowman was known in rodeo circles throughout the Southwest because of the feats of her sons Everett, Lewis Edward (now of Colorado Springs) and James Houston (Skeet), sheriff of Graham County. Rodeo people gave her the distinction of having sons winning more world championship honors than any other woman. Born in Brown County, Texas, on March 2, 1866, she moved to New Mexico in 1884 where she married William Thomas Bowman in 1885, and they moved back to Texas. In 1915, Mr. and Mrs. Bowman came to Arizona, locating in Clifton and later in Safford. After the death of her husband in 1933, Mrs. Bowman made her home in Globe until coming to Wickenburg to live with her son Everett. See Also: Find A Grave |
