Donald H. Pickett, Jr.

Donald H. Pickett Jr., of Sun Lakes AZ, passed away at the Odyssey Hospice Respite Center, Wednesday, March 31, 2004, after a 9 month battle of cancer.

Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on August 20, 1921, his family moved to Phoenix, AZ when he was a child.

Following his WWII service in the Air Force, he graduated from Arizona State University in 1946. He farmed in Queen Creek until he moved to Chandler in 1977 and was a real estate agent until retiring in 1998 to Sun Lakes, AZ. Community organizations and services included obtaining the level of Eagle Scout as a teen, member and President of Farm Bureau, member and President of the District Soil Conservation, Master of Chandler Masonic Lodge No. 34, Shriner's Mounted Patrol, a founding member and president of the Grand Canyon Wood Carvers of Scottsdale and was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Sun Lakes.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Brandon, and 2 sons, Donald S. (Pete) and William (Bill), 2 daughters, Glenda and Anita Langsmith, and 7 grandchildren.

Visitation was at Bueler's Mortuary, 14 West Hulet Dr, Chandler, AZ on Sunday, April 4th. Services were Monday, April 5th at the First Baptist Church of Sun Lakes, 9535 E. Riggs Road in Sun Lakes, AZ.
