Theodore Charles (Ted) Dassinger

Theodore Charles Dassinger peacefully passed away at his Prescott Valley home on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006. Ted was born to Caroline (Oehler) and George C. Dassinger on Jan. 12, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Ted graduated from Murry Hill Vocational High School in Manhattan, N.Y. in 1942.

He served in WWII in the U.S. Army Infantry Cannon 134th Company in the European theater from 1943 to 1945 as a Corporal.

After the war, Ted returned to New York City where he worked in the hotel business for several years and played the trumpet in the Hamilton Fish Marching Band.

Ted married his Rita, an auburn-haired Irish lady, the love of his life, in 1953.

Ted joined the Barden Company in 1961 in Danbury, Conn. and worked there as machinist for 25 years until he retired in 1986. Ted and Rita moved to Prescott Valley in 1987 and were actively involved in organizing Prescott Valley Art Guild. His beloved wife Rita passed away in 1992.

Ted was a member of St. Germaine Catholic Church where he served as an usher for the parish. Ted was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.

Never a day went by that someone wasn't blessed by a kind act from Ted, whether it was a driveway cleared of snow, a newspaper brought up to the door or just a bag of sweets or little cupcakes for the children.

Besides many friends, Ted is survived by his brothers, William (Bill) of Prescott Valley, Martin of Mahway, N.J.; sister-in-law, Hedwig (Hedy) Dassinger of Prescott; nephew, George (Isabelle) of Little Falls, N.J.; niece, Gloria D'Angelico of Surprise, Ariz; great-nephews, Michael of N.J. and James of Fla.; great-nieces, Stephanie in N.Y., Stacy in Phoenix, and Mai-Lin in N.J.

A rosary and visitation will be held for family and friends at 6:30 p.m. on Wed. Feb. 8, 2006, at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 3:00 p.m. Thursday Feb. 9, 2006, at St. Germaine Catholic Church in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Committal services will take place at Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey, Ariz., following mass.
