Carl Douglas Archer, Sr.

Carl Douglas Archer Sr., 62, who grew up in Phoenix but lived in Louisville, Ky., died July 20, 2005, in Chicago while on business.

Archer, who worked for Eckard America as an account manager in the aluminum coating area, was born Dec. 27, 1943, in Zanesville, Ohio.

He moved to the Valley as a child and graduated from Camelback High and Arizona State University with a degree in chemistry. He was involved in ROTC and Pershing Rifle in high school and college. His work led him throughout the nation with he and his family living in New Jersey; Dallas; Baltimore; Chicago; and, finally, Louisville.

He was a member of the National Coating Society. Archer also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was active in church ministries wherever he called home. He had a love for cooking and fine wine and enjoyed hunting, canoeing, camping and photography.

He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Boegeman of Louisville; daughter, Julie, of Manama, Bahrain; son, Carl Jr. "CJ," of Louisville; grandsons, Abduella and Mohammed Rasti, of Bahrain; granddaughter, Taylor, of Louisville; mother, Florence; brother, Raymond; sister, Judith Regh, and nephews, Travis and Eric Regh, all of Phoenix. Services were held in Louisville.
