Lon P. Smith Born in Nogales, Ariz. on May 13, 1922. Departed on Aug. 31, 2002 and resided in Prescott, Ariz. Lon Patrick Smith, 80, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Sedona, Ariz. died August 31. He was born May 13, 1922 in Nogales, Arizona. Mr. Smith retired from the U.S. Postal Service. His father was a miner and Border Patrolman, so Lon lived in many cities in Arizona. He graduated from high school in Jerome. He formed a little country/western band and had a radio program in Jerome, where he was known as Cowboy Pat. He was a ranchhand and a car mechanic in the Verde Valley before going in to the service, where he served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He retired to Sedona, which he thought was the most beautiful place on earth. Lon was also a parishoner of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He leaves two daughters, Deborah Reissig of Lakeside and Gloria P. Gast of Gila, New Mexico; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His wife, Louise Smith died in 2000. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 5 at 1:30 PM in the Sedona Community Cemetery. Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood, Arizoan directed arrangements. |
