John Joseph Green

John Joseph Green, formerly of Lancaster, California, passed away October 9, 2006, at the age of 82 after a lengthy illness with cancer.

John was born May 8, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph Riley and Marie Fillion Green.

He was a WWII veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Following his discharge after the war, John returned to Phoenix where he attended the Phoenix City College and graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired after 27 years with Lockheed Aircraft at Palmdale, California. His life long love of automobiles led him to restoring classic cars and spent ten years restoring a 1956 XK-140 Jaguar Roadster.

He is survived by his loving wife Frieda; his daughter Beth LeGrant; two sons, John and Paul; 6 grandchildren; a sister Evelyn; 3 brothers, Thomas, Gerald, and Richard Green; and numerous nieces and nephews to which he was a loving uncle.

Visitation at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Rd. on Friday, October 13th, 2004 with Rosary. Funeral Mass will be said at St. Mary's Basilica, 231 North 3rd St., on Saturday, October 14th. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John Green may be sent to: Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85014.
