West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona, Friday, February 08, 2013 Iva Nora "Snookie" (nee Simpson) Cliett, 86, of Goodyear died Jan. 13, 2013, from Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. Cliett was born March 19, 1926, in Shamrock, Texas, to David Marvin and Lottie B. Simpson. She was raised on a farm and worked picking cotton until the second grade, when she started attending school. She graduated from McLean High School in 1944. She was awarded three scholarships to colleges in north Texas, but chose not to attend. She was a telephone switchboard operator for the local telephone company in McLean, Texas, and met her husband, Bob Cliett, in 1946. Her family moved to Arizona in 1962, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years. She is survived by her husband, Bob; one daughter, Hope Eason of Buckeye; one son, Clayton D. Cliett of Goodyear; and three grandchildren. Services were held Jan. 18 at First Southern Baptist Church in Buckeye. Interment was held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix. See Also: Find A Grave |
