Pirtle, George C., 69, was tragically taken from us in a car accident on Feb. 5, 2009 on US 60 west of Superior. He was born in Sedona in 1939 and attended grade school in Clarkdale. He graduated from high school in San Manuel in 1957. A veteran, he served in the Navy on the USS battleship Missouri. When attending ASU, he was a member of the marching band and also attended NAU in Flagstaff. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, oil painting and cooking. He retired from ASARCO in Hayden in 2000 as a shift engineer at the mill powerhouse. He was a member of the Sun Valley Church of Christ in Higley. He is survived by his mother Frances, daughter Kimberly Pirtle, grand-daughter Sara Brush and brothers, Dale and Bill Pirtle. He was a dedicated husband to the late Cheryl K McCown Pirtle of San Manuel. Services will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Dr. Chandler with visitation 1 hour prior at 8:30 AM. Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Tucson at 1:00 PM. |
