The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Tuesday, February 10, 2009 Lowell P. Bartels, 72, of Cottonwood, died Feb. 7. He was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Alliance, Neb., the son of Herman and Viola Merrill Bartels. He was a graduate of Alliance High School and received his Associates in Arts Degree from Glendale Community College. Mr. Bartels worked for the City of Glendale, Calif., and City of Burbank, Calif. He was a member of the Arizona Flywheelers and the Mile High Tractor and Engine Club. His hobbies included restoration and showing John Deere Tractors and the 1941 Plymouth pickup that he drove to high school. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and a brother, Glen Bartels. Mr. Bartels is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dixie Bartels; sons, Kent Bartels, Brian (Sally) Bartels, Bruce (Erin) Bartels, all of Calif.; daughter Deena Anderson of Calif.; brother Dwain (Carol) Bartels of Sacramento, Calif.; sister Shirley Dillon of Missouri; and others including Elizabeth (Duane) Enyeart of Utah, Joyce Benzel of Nebraska and Rosemary (James) Russell of Texas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
