Born in Defiance, Ohio on Sept. 17, 1924.
Departed on May 3, 2008 and resided in Benson, Ariz.

Gayland L. Clarke, age 83, resident of Benson, Arizona passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008 in Cottonwood.

He was the son of George Edward and Eleanor McDermott Clarke; born September 17, 1924 in Defiance, Ohio. Gayland attended and graduated High School in Pontiac, Michigan (1938-1942).

Gayland worked as a papermaker with Ponperos Paper Products in Flagstaff from 1965-1980. He was also a caretaker of the facilities at Skip Park; and served on numerous committees. His late wife, Lucille also worked at Skip Park in the office during her retired years.

He liked old John Wayne Movies; riding his bicycle around the Skip Park, and hunting with his son, Gayre.

His beloved wife, Vernon Lucille Clarke precedes him in death. Gayland leaves behind a son, Gayre G. Clarke, wife, Rathe of Flagstaff; daughter, Deborah Karen Plump, husband, Richard of Lockport, New York; four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
