Frank F. (Kino) Sims

Frank F. “Kino” Sims Jr. passed away Feb. 8, 2009.

He was born in Tiger, Arizona on Nov. 12, 1944.

Kino was a fun-spirited person at heart. He was a family person and loved to be around his grandkids. His obsession with the outdoors and hunting will live on through his grandson.

Kino and his wife Bertha resided in Dudleyville, following his unfortunate accident in February 2000, but Kino lived in Mammoth all his life while growing up.

He served in the Navy for six years and after his service in the Navy he worked in the mines between Tucson and Hayden. He worked at Asarco for 30 years before retiring.

Kino was determined to fight, and he fought with all the strength that he had to his last breath.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita F. Sims and Frank “Chico” Sims; brothers, Emmit “Hito” Sims, Angel Miranda and Ernest “Quito” Miranda; and a son-in-law, Danny Quijada.

Left behind in loving memory are his daughters, Lisa (Eric) Fox and Andrea Sims-Quijada (Elmer Tamayo); grandchildren, Chelsie Sims, Eric Fox Jr., Danny Quijada Jr., and Thalia Tamayo; siblings, Mary “Hita” Rodriguez, Clara Dupnik, Patricia Amavisca, Tencha Garcia, Sara Quintana, Mary Lou Dickson, Rudolfo “Quido” Miranda, Manuel “Pepo” Miranda and David “Boze” Sims; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Kino will forever be in the hearts of all who loved him and recognized as their hero.

Services for Kino will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Mammoth. A date and time have not been given.
