Goren Ryden

RYDEN, Goran
Goran Ryden, 67, of Tempe, passed away June 6, 2006. He was born to parents Agda and Karl Ryden of Jonkoping, Sweden on July 30 1938. He served in the Swedish Army and immigrated to the United States in 1965 on a transatlantic ship. His remembrance of seeing the Statue of Liberty from the deck for the first time stayed with him always.

Goran settled in Southern California and was the CFO for Zenith Insurance, a New York listed firm. He later became the CFO for HRN Services with offices thru out the Western region. After moving to Arizona for retirement in 1999, he became a fan of all things ASU. He was an ardent supporter of Sun Devil baseball, women's basketball, and football. Goran sang in the choir at All Saints Newman center, loving every minute. He sang and played the piano beautifully for anyone who would listen. Goran was a longtime tennis player, a marathoner, finishing five Los Angeles marathons, and a superb bicyclist, often enjoying 100 mile daily rides.

Goran is survived by his wife, Debrorah, children Peter (Vanessa), Thomas and Carol, four grandchildren Mikeena and Kiya Daly and Shane and Cole Ryden and step children Joseph and Patrick Rice. He is also survived by his sister Birgit Henningsson (Tura) of Orebro, Sweden and nephews Matthias and Marcus.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Newman Center Rectory Fund, 230 E. University Dr., Tempe Az 85281 or charity of your choice. A funeral mass was held Friday June 30th, 2006 at the Newman Center in the Old Church. Carr Tenney Mortuary. Published in The Arizona Republic from 6/28/2006 - 6/29/2006.
