Al Mendivil, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away Feb. 25, 2007. He was born on Sept. 21, 1930 to Jesus MENDIVIL and Maria CELEYA in Mesa, Arizona. He attended Lincoln, Irving, and Franklin public schools and graduated from Mesa High in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He married Pat, his high school sweetheart in 1953. Al was a graduate of Arizona State University and an avid Sun Devil fan. He was active in the Mesa Jaycees and served as past president. Al was a past member of the Armed Forces Committee of the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Queen of Peace School Board, a former member of the Arizona Land Title Association and Mortgage Bankers Association. He was a former member of the Mesa Country Club. He was active in the Sister Cities Association of Mesa, was a life member of the Mesa Ho Ho Kams, a member of the Mesa Southwest Museum, and the Century Club of the Mesa Historical Museum. He was an active member of the ASU Newman Center. Al retired in 1987 as Vice President of Minnesota Title Co. He had previously served as Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of Stewart Title & Trust Co.

Al is survived by Pat, his wife of 53 years; daughter Barbara and son-in-law Ric Hoks; sons: Robert Mendivil and Ronald Mendivil; daughter Marianne and son-in-law Brian DeMoss; and grandchildren: Anthony Hoks, Wesley, Matthew and Veronica Mendivil, and Gabriela and Michael DeMoss. Al is survived by his brother Ed Mendivil and sisters: Lottie Dominguez and Ophelia Hermosillo and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Rosary was at the ASU All Saints Newman Center, 230 E. University Drive in Tempe. A memorial mass was held at the same location on Saturday, March 3, 2007. Parking will be available at the ASU Foundation parking garage. A private burial will be held at a later date. A Celebration of Life gathering was held at the Mesa Jaycees Hall, 640 N. Center in Mesa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Al Mendivil Scholarship Fund at the ASU All Saints Newman Center. Meldrum Mortuary handled the arrangements.
