William Walter Umland

William Walter Umland, 87, of Mesa, Arizona, beloved father,
grandfather, uncle and brother, passed away on February 6, 2006 from a
short illness. Walter was born in Bronx, New York, August 14, 1918 to
Henry and Anna Umland. He served in the Air Force which brought him to
Luke Air Force Base in Arizona in 1941, where he spent the rest of his
life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Krugen, and his second
wife, Lorene Morris Allen. He is survived by his son, Karl Umland
(Georgia) and daughter Susan Aston (Sam), 9 grandchildren and 7 great-
grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Detta Diehl, and his
brother, Herb Umland.

He was an active member of the LDS Church for 45 years, and served as a stake missionary in Phoenix, a full-time mission with his wife, Lorene in Minnesota, a family history mission with her here in Mesa, and as a Temple worker. We will miss our loving Dad and Grandpa, but will always remember our precious time with him.

Visitation will be at Bunkers Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way in Mesa Thursday, February 9, 2006 from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing an hour before at the Aspen Ward Building, 1249 S. 48th St., in Mesa.
