ZIMMERMAN, Robert "Bob" Robert "Bob" Zimmerman, age 83 Of Mesa, AZ, LT/COL. USAF (30 Years Service /Retired) Born in Kansas City Missouri, died on October 24th. Bob held a BS in Engineering and an MBA in Public Administration both with ASU. He was a Jet Pilot in the 57th Fighter Group 65th squadron (Alaska). He served his country honorably during WW II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He remained a strong veteran's advocate serving as Chairman and Coordinator on many committees, such as Coordinator for the Veterans Booth at the State Fair since inception. Bob was a Life member of many major veteran's organizations, a few are: DAV Dept Commander and VFW Post Commander. He was also a competitive and accomplished athlete in racquetball and badminton. Survivors include sons Robert L. Jr., (Donna), Rodney V., and Craig A. (Marla) 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and his great dog Joey. Bob was a devoted father, grandfather and friend and will be missed. Visitation at Melcher's Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Drive, Mesa, AZ. Services were Friday 12 Noon. Interment City of Mesa Cemetery. Donations to AZ Humane Society, 9226 N. 13th Ave., Phx, AZ 85021. Published in The Arizona Republic on 10/28/2004. |
