Walter Bradford Diskin, 84, of Mayer, Ariz., went to be with our Lord on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott, Ariz. He was born at home in Humboldt, Ariz., on April 3, 1923, to Rebecca Jane (Larremore) and Pete Diskin.

Walter was called to serve his country in the United States Army during WW II, where he drove ammunition to the front lines for the infantry. He received an Honorable Discharge in December 1945.

Four months later, he married his sweetheart, Rhoda Clarice Edwards.

He worked in the Iron King Mine for several years. When the mine shut down he worked as a grader operator for Yavapai County, grading roads in Mayer, Humboldt, Dewey, Cherry,Crown King and everything in between. Walter opened a Richfield gas station in Mayer in the mid 60s. He sold the station and went back to work grading roads for the county from which he retired.

He and Rhoda were then able to travel to all fifty states.

Walter enjoyed the outdoors. He taught his two boys everything he knew about hunting.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife in 1996. He is survived by his sons, Claude (Wendy) Diskin and David (Carrie) Diskin; four grandchildren and three and a half great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dale Sams and his nursing staff at the Pioneers' Home for their excellent care of our dad and grandpa. A special thank you to Audi Worrell for her compassion.

Internment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery for family members.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at the Humboldt Bible Church, 2500 S. Black Canyon Highway, Humboldt, Ariz.
