John Dobler Is Accidentally Killed

The body of John R Dobler, well known miner and prospector around Wickenburg and the mineral region north of here, lies at the Merryman undertaking parlors in Phoenix, where it has been prepared for shipment to his home in Brooklyn, New York, for burial.

Dobler was the discoverer and owner of the famous gold properties 16 miles northeast from Wickenburg in Yavapai County which bore his name.

The old Dobler mine has been a producer for many years in a desultory way. Whenever it was worked, it gave rich returns, but work was suspended until the operators had time to spend their money and then they would start up again. The mines were working until a few weeks ago. Systematic working under 20th century methods would make a good steady producing mine of it.

We have not got the particulars in full of John Dobler's death, but it seems he was doing some work for the Lovelle silver mines, purchased a year ago by George Koyk from John and Mary Boetto. In some way he was loading tools into the bucket, and accidentally fell down the 250 ft shaft of the old Diamond Joe mine on Wednesday. A mass of broken bones and contused flesh, almost unrecognizable was all that was left of poor John's body when they raised it to the surface.

His son Carl and wife, Mrs Maude Dobler, are now in Phoenix at 1630 West Washington street. They are expected to follow the remains to their old home in Brooklyn, following some details necessary to take care of their mining interests here.
