The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, February 11, 2009 Lucretia Gibbons was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Sayre, Pa., and passed away on Jan. 29, 2009, in Phoenix, Ariz. There will be no memorial service at her request. Lucretia held a B.S. Degree and pre-med from San Diego State College. She had pre-law at USC. She served in WWII in WAACS. She worked in Los Angeles County as a social worker, probation officer, substitute teacher and a secretary for a private chemical firm. Her son, Rodger Hyde Gibbons, passed away on Jan. 7, 2000. Her husband, Rodger Gibbons of Black Canyon City, Ariz., survives her, along with her sisters, Barbara Ciardi Hobbs of Black Canyon City and Sally Marrone of Sayre, Pa., and several nieces and nephews. Lucretia served as treasurer of the Black Canyon City Community Association from December 1996 to December 2003. Lucretia and her husband Rodger owned the Mountain Breeze Motel from 1997 to 2005. She loved to play bridge and even tried bingo now and then. Her family and friends will sadly miss Lucretia. Information provided by survivors. |
