| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, February 28, 2006 Erna Kaethe Zapfe, 89, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., formerly of Pomona, Calif., died on Feb. 24, 2006, in Prescott Valley. Erna was born Nov. 11, 1916, in Andernach, Germany. She served as a nurse and midwife until she immigrated to the United States in 1953. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Richard Carl Zapfe, who died in 1987. Erna moved to Prescott Valley in 2001. Erna is survived by a daughter, Marilyn, of Claremont, Calif., and a son, Richard, of Prescott Valley, Ariz. Private services will take place at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Yavapai County Humane Society. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
