William Edward (Bill) Dierker

William (Bill) Edward Dierker, age 78, died at his home in Prescott, Ariz., Jan. 28, 2006. He was born on July 26,1927, in Alton, Ill., the son of William Noble and Grace (Burrell) Dierker.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947.

Bill and Yvonne were married in 1985 and shared 21 years of marriage together enjoying camping, fishing and being outdoors.

Bill worked at Northrop Ventura in California, with a satisfying career as a manager in the production control unit. He was involved in projects Mercury, Gemini and Apollo spacecraft systems. Bill and his brother-in-law were camping when they heard that their work had been for the good of mankind when Neil Armstrong took the first step on the moon.

Bill retired in 1988; he and Yvonne moved to Prescott the same year. Bill enjoyed working in his garage where he fixed and created almost anything. Bill played the fiddle and guitar and enjoyed country music. He was a member of the Elks in California.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne of Prescott; three sons, Kenneth Dierker of Mo., and John and Don Danyko, both of Calif.; his brother-in-law, Ronald (Marcia) Chase of Utah. Two sisters preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix on Feb. 10, 2006, at 10:30 a.m.

A gathering of family and friends will follow the committal services at Bill and Yvonne's home in Prescott.

The family requests donations in honor of Bill be made to YRMC Hospice and thank them for the gracious and compassionate care they extended during these times.
