Laura S. Ostrom, age 91, died peacefully in her sleep Dec. 22, 2005, at the Skyline Pines nursing facility in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was born May 18, 1914, in Pollock, Mo.

Laura and her husband, Carl, moved to Prescott upon their retirement in 1976. After Carl passed away in March of 2005, she moved to Colorado to be closer to one of her daughters.

Laura was a much-loved school teacher. After retirement she volunteered in Prescott schools until she was 80. She is the author of a children's book, "The Fried Egg Quilt," participated in the bird counts in Prescott, and was a great lover of nature and practical jokes.

Laura was pre-deceased by her husband, her son, and one brother. She is survived by a brother and sister, her three daughters and four grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be sent to your local hospice.
