Tammy Lynn Cortez of Paulden, Ariz. died, June 6, 2007, as a result of a car accident. She was born July 13, 1963, in Van Nuys, California, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Cortez. Tammy was 43 years old.

Tammy enjoyed variety in her life. She did arts and crafts, loved to go camping, enjoyed wild life and just being a free spirit. Tammy enjoyed her work with the Chamber of Commerce in Chino Valley, and coaching a softball team. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready to tell or listen to a joke. She made many friends during her days in Chino Valley and Paulden.

She was formerly from Las Vegas, but fell in love with Arizona. She came to visit in Chino Valley and never returned to Las Vegas. She was proudest of her Native American and Hispanic heritage.

Tammy is survived by her parents; sister, Debra (Ron) Kimball; niece, Tausha; nephew, Ron; grandmother, Juanita; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A gathering in celebration of Tammy's life will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2007, with sharing of memories at 1 p.m. at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez, Prescott, Arizona.

The family suggests memorials to Chino Valley Food Bank, 1943 N. Voss Road, Chino Valley, Ariz., 86323.
