Yuma Sun, Yuma, Arizona - Published in The Yuma Sun on July 2, 2013 - Mary Skehan Watson was born in Houlton, Maine where she met her future husband James A. Watson. They married while he attended The University of Maine and transferred to Yuma, AZ in 1952. Yuma became home where they raised their nine children. Mary lived a very fulfilling and blessed life as an active member of St. Francis and St. John Neumann Catholic parishes, Altar Society, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and as a CCD teacher. She delighted in her children's numerous school and sporting events. Mary was also crowned Mrs. Southern Arizona, was the co-establisher of the Realty Executives Yuma office, and was an avid bridge player. Mary was preceded in death by her husband James Austin, her parents James and Mary Effie Skehan, and sister, Sr. Teresa Skehan. She is survived by her children: Kerry (Bob) Anderson, Cathe (Joe) Lyons, Jim (Jacque) Watson, Steve (Kathy) Watson, Mike (Luanne) Watson, JA (Kim) Watson, Teresa (Stan) Minatogawa, Missie Watson-Gee, Margo (Scott) DeWitt, 33 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. As well as siblings: Rev James W Skehan S.J., Joseph Skehan, Hank (Patty) Skehan, and Marie Cooney. A visitation with rosary will be held at St. Francis of Assisi on Friday, July 5 at 7 pm. A funeral mass officiated by Rev John F. Friel will be held at St. John Neumann on Saturday, July 6 at 9 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be lovingly made to St. John Neumann's Parish, the African AIDS Orphans Project at St. John Neumann's, or to Yuma Catholic High School.
