William Edward Kost

William Edward Kost was born August 20, 1922 in Williamsport, Pa. He died on Jan. 18 in Mesa, Ariz.

After serving in World War II in the Army, he was married to Madeline Shimp in 1944 until her death in 1963.

He is survived by one brother Robert Kost (Laura), children Karen Jenkins (Roger), Paula Rose (Fred), Larry Kost (Mary), Kathy Weir (David), Nanette Hoole (George), Sandy Hadland (Rich), Janet Gerbasi (Edd), and James Kost, 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Bill and his sister Elise Kell owned the first department store in Las Vegas, Nev. He then worked for Clark County as a systems analyst until he retired.

In 1972 he married Annie Connery. They then resided in Duck Creek and Central, Utah. She preceded him in death in 2006.

Bill has spent his last few years between his house in Utah and his son Larry’s house in Mesa, Ariz. Gold Rush Days in Wickenburg was a favorite, with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was a good salesman and few people left his woodworking booth without buying something. He loved to watch baseball and football and supported the Arizona teams. He enjoyed visits from his kids and their kids and their kids’ kids. He was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
