Garry Raymond Ellis, beloved son, brother and uncle, passed away after a struggle with diabetes, kidney failure and pneumonia at Del Webb Memorial Hospital in Sun City, Ariz., on Feb. 2.

Garry was born in Denver, Colo., on May 18, 1955 to Frank and Valeria Ellis. Garry spent his early years in Denver, moved to Wickenburg in 1972, and graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1974. He played football during high school, then worked with his father Frank Ellis doing construction.

After leaving Wickenburg in 1975, he continued working in the construction field in Montana, Hawaii, Colorado, and Alaska. He returned to Wickenburg in early summer of 2005.

Garry was a longtime member of the Elks, enjoyed the outdoors fishing, hunting, and will be remembered for his infectious laugh and creative abilities. His favorite pastime was spending quality time with his family and friends and “tinkering.”

In Garry’s short life span he managed to make a tremendous amount of beautiful memories in so many lives. Garry will be greatly missed by all that were fortunate enough to know him.

Garry is survived by his mother Valeria Ellis of Winnemucca, Nev.; siblings Sheryl Curtis and her husband Walter of Winnemucca, Nev.; Allen Ellis and his wife Debbie of Brighton, Colo.; Kirk Ellis and his wife Annette of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three nieces, three nephews, and nine great-nieces and nephews. Other siblings are Terri, Sandra, and Charles Ellis with their families.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Del Webb Memorial Hospital for their kind and caring help during Garry’s final days. We also want to thank the community members and friends that loved him, cared for him and looked out for him over the years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider gifts on behalf of Garry be made to Hospice Family Care Inc., 17220 N. Boswell Blvd. Suite 225E, 623-876-9100.

On Saturday, Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Coffinger Park Ramada, a potluck lunch celebrating Garry’s life will be held. All are welcome to attend.

Garry’s wishes were to be cremated and taken back to Alaska to a favorite place of his.
