Born in Valencia County, New Mexico on Aug. 28, 1928.
Departed on May 29, 2004 and resided in Camp Verde, Arizona.

Arthur ''Art'' William Gifford, 75, of Camp Verde went to be with his Heavenly Father May 29. He was born in Valencia County, New Mexico on August 28, 1928.

He was a heavy duty equipment operator and truly enjoyed working. He loved to drive around the Verde Valley and tell of places where he did work. He did some of the dirt work on the Sedona Medical Center.

When he developed cancer, he told some of the people there he didn't know at the time that he was building a place for his own care.

Art loved to fish and hunt.

Art is survived by his wife of 28 years, Claudette; three children, all of Oregon, a son, Billy Joe, daughters Donna, husband Danny Bond, and Johnnie, husband Steve George; four grandchildren, Russell Nelson, Julie Day, Kellie Bond and James Bond; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Taylor Day.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 5 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Camp Verde from 10-11 a.m.

A funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Clear Creek Cemetery.
