George L. (Spike) Doverspike

George L. (Spike) Doverspike of Prescott Country Club was born Sept. 7, 1916, in Worthville, Pa. He died on Feb. 26, 2007, at the age of 90.

Spike was a graduate of North Central College of Naperville, Ill., and had a master's degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He served in the Army during World War II on the Hawaiian Islands as part of the 40th Division Band. Following the war, he taught music and was the choir director at Antigo High School, in Antigo, Wisconsin. After retiring from the school system, George was a local businessman in Antigo, operating the local Shopper's Guide. He loved music, golf, fishing and enjoyed the great outdoors.

He is survived by two brothers, Bob (Dolores), of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and Dale (Ann), of Sun City, Arizona. He also has four step-children, John of Wash., Bob of Wis., Richard of Colo. and Kim of Calif. Spike also has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a twin, Frank Doverspike.

A memorial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Faith United Community Church, 1061 Old Chisholm Trail, Dewey, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Hospice Family Care Foundation, 100 E. Sheldon Street, Suite 100, Prescott, Ariz, 86301.
