The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Thursday, April 5, 2007 Ethel Leona "Dolly" Beck died March 30 in Tempe, Ariz. She was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Mountainaire, N.M. Mrs. Beck moved to Clarkdale, Arizona when she was 2 days old. She later met and married Orville Beck, a chemist at the United Verde Copper Company. Orville and Dolly moved to Morenci in 1953 where she became the school superintendent's secretary until her retirement. They enjoyed their retirement in Thatcher and later in Tucson, Ariz. After Orville's death, Dolly moved to the Tempe area to be near her oldest daughter. She is survived by two daughters, Marion Deanna Tolson and Nancy Louise Sherman; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Services will be today, 3 p.m., at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, Ariz. Memorial contributions may be made the Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, Ariz., 85014. |
