| The Verde Independent, Verde Valley, Arizona April 2007 Corinne Faye (Cory) Beard, 81, died March 29, 2007, in her home of ovarian cancer. She was born Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1926, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Albert John and Mary Schmidt. She graduated from Steubenville High School in 1943. In December 1947, she married George Beard, her high school sweetheart. After relocating to several cities in Ohio, they moved west to Flagstaff, Ariz. in 1963 and later to Phoenix in 1967. She is survived by three sons, Gary T., David E., and Greg A., all in the Phoenix area; one sister, Mary Lou Pratley Neal, formerly of Cottonwood; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. April 9 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona where she will be buried next to her husband George. Services in the Cottonwood area will be at Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood, Arizona on Wednesday, April 11. |
