Wade Sommers, 90, of Flagstaff, Ariz., died Feb. 21, 2009. He was born in Summersville, Mo.

Wade moved to Flagstaff in the year 1936. He worked for Fish Sawmill until drafted to the service, in the Ground Air Force for four years. He served from 1941 to 1945.

Wade met Edith in 1941 and they were married. After returning from the service he worked for Arizona Department of Transportation, working for the state for 36 years.

Anyone who knew Wade knew he was an avid outdoorsman, and many wonderful times were spent in the woods and on the lakes with his family.

Wade is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Edith: three daughters, Sharon Hillman of Phoenix, Karen Brewer (son-in-law Dave Brewer) of Flagstaff and Linda Bennett of Phoenix. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Wade also has numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flower,s a donation can be sent to Northland Hospice, P.O. Box 997, Flagstaff, Ariz., 86002.

A visitation took place Thursday at Mountain View Baptist Church followed by a funeral service and interment at Citizens Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.norvelowensmortuary.com
