Gloria Natividad (Vera) Rivera

Gloria Natividad Vera Rivera, 77, died Feb. 15, 2009, in Sylmar, Calif., after a valiant battle with cancer. Gloria was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Clemenceau, Ariz. In 1949, she moved to Fresno, Calif., where she met her husband, Alejandro Rivera.

She worked as an electronic worker and in 1982 graduated from Cal State Northridge with a bilingual teaching credential. She retired from Hubbard Elementary School in 2000.

Gloria is survived by her five daughters, Maria, Rosa, Margarita, Olivia, and Eva, and one son; Francisco. She is further survived by her four brothers: Victor, Armando, David, and Salvador, one sister Juana, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Maria Vera and her sister Carmen, and brother Ralph and beloved husband Alejandro.

Gloria was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Gloria will be long remembered for her creativity, warmth, and loving spirit. Her funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Mary Immaculate Church, 10390 Remick Ave., Pacoima, CA 91331. Burial was at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 13017 N. Lopez Canyon Road, Sylmar, Calif. 91342
