Ronald E. Lewis,70, of Phoenix passed away on Feb. 26, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elke; children Jairi Miller and Charlie (Tricia) Lewis; children by marriage Nancy Burton and Joseph Burton; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; twin brother Donald, who stayed by his side throughout his illness; brothers Bill and Jack; sisters Velma Rezzonico, Dolores Thum, June Pedoni and Frances Sutton; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was born at home Jan. 19, 1939, in Clarkdale, Ariz., the youngest of 12 children. He grew up in the Verde Valley and Prescott, where he loved to rodeo and cowboy. He lived in Phoenix for the past 32 years and worked in agricultural sales until he retired. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Phoenix 500 Men's Club and was Player of the Year in 2007. Special thanks to all his golfing buddies, especially Bill Austin, Jim Basso and Anthony Posillico, for their friendship and support during his illness.

Ron was always a true gentleman with a kind soul and loved his family (even more than golf!).

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Chapel in Peoria, with graveside service to follow at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Arizona.
