Sonja Norrine (Cookie) (Nilsson)

Sonja Norrine "Cookie" (Nilsson) Vick was born on June 24, 1936 to Norman and Gyda Nilsson in Decorah, Iowa.

On February 17, 1957, Sonja married Harold Wesley Vick also of Decorah, IA. During their 49 year marriage they had five children and four grandchildren.

Sonja enjoyed watching sports, listening to talk radio and loved discussing politics. Family was most important to Sonja. She loved the holidays, a time when all her children and grandchildren were with her, that is what Sonja lived for. Sonja was a loving selfless woman; she was an angel on earth. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sonja joined her husband Harold on March 22, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents Norman and Gyda, one sister Marti Vigil, and one brother Thomas Nilsson. Sonja is survived by her five children: Scott Vick, of Los Angeles, CA, Bradley Vick of Scottsdale, AZ, Holly Vick of Scottsdale, AZ, Heide Vick-Domzalski of Chandler, AZ, and Shane Vick-Feeney of South Kingstown, RI; four grandchildren Leigha Vick, Riley Vick, Daniel Domzalski and Hope Feeney; sons-in-law, Brian Domzalski, and Brian Feeney; one sister Helen Childs of Scranton, KS; two brothers-in-law Tom Halse of Waterloo, IA, Herbert Vick of Decorah, IA and one sister-in-law Mary Ann Vick of Cedar Falls, IA.

Private services to honor Sonja were at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on March 29, 2006. In honor of Sonja, the family has requested contributions be made to the memorial fund at The Church of The Holy Cross at 3110 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
