April L Fletcher, 53, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Granite Mountain Adult Care Center.

She was born Dec 13, 1945, in Phoenix, to Dr John C and Lorraine A (Carter) Fletcher.

Mrs Fletcher was Rodeo Queen for Prescott Frontier Days in 1962. She graduated from Prescott High School in 1964. She is from a family of Rodeo Queens in Prescott, as well as a pioneer Arizona Family.

She attended college in Ft Lewis, Durango, Colo., and later Yavapai College, completing a certificate program in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for Rio Verde Health Care in Camp Verde for many years, retiring in 1995.

Mrs Fletcher loved horses, riding and caring for them. She also enjoyed birds and dogs, and being with her friends and family.
She was involved with the 4-H Club for many years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Carter Walker, in March of this year, and her father, Dr Jack Fletcher, in 1991.

Survivors include her son, Ross Perner IV of Dewey; and sister, Robin Ogg of Grand Canyon.

A celebration of her life will be at 11am Saturday at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S Cortez St. A private cremation was held at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

The family suggests contributions to the YRMC Hospice Restricted Fund, 3262 Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.

The Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.
