Robert (Bob) Vaught went' home to, be with His Lord on March 10, 2006.

His family was fortunate to be at his side during most of his hospitalization and his final hours.

Bob was born on July 8, 1933, in Eastland, Texas. He joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Ariz. where he played the French horn in the 547th Air Force Band. After several months, he attended radio school at Luke and was shipped to the gunnery range at Gila Bend, Ariz. He served on several ranges as the range radio operator. His detachment was transferred to Ajo, Ariz. where he met his future wife, Nadine Fincher. After his marriage, he transferred back; to the 547th Air Force Band.

After his discharge from the Air Force in 1953, Bob and Nadine moved to Texas where he graduated from the University of Texas in 1957. Bob and his family then moved to Phoenix where he accepted a position as a credit sales manager trainee with Sears. He was transferred to Safford, Ariz. and then to Yuma, Ariz. In 1961, Bob was transferred back to Phoenix where he served as the Assistant Arizona Group Credit Sales Manager and Phoenix store Credit Manager.

In 1963, Bob began his career with the First National Bank of Arizona (now Wells Fargo). His 28-year career at the bank was enjoyable, and he was a Vice President and branch manager before retiring in 1992. Bob and Nadine moved to Prescott in 1994.

He played trumpet in the Yavapai College Community Band.

During the past few years, he spent hundreds of hours at the computer placing all of the family pictures (over 5,000) on to CDs. In addition to family projects, he also wrote and mailed the newsletters for both his high school class and air force squadron. He also organized the first 547th band reunion 41 years after he left the service.

Bob amazed people with his phenomenal memory and could recall names and details that everyone else had long forgotten. His quick humor and wit endeared him to everyone he met. He enjoyed practical jokes, good conversation, and was known as the eternal optimist.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nadine Vaught; and four children, Bob Vaught, Jr., of Phoenix, Vicki Stevens of Orange, Calif., Kim Klatt of Prescott Valley, Ariz. and Loren Vaught of Huntington Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Following a seven-week hospitalization due to pneumonia and complications of lung disease, he chose to return home to die. He passed away peacefully less than two hours after arriving at his residence.

Due to the invaluable services and comfort provided by Hospice, it is the family's request that contributions be made to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center Hospice, 3262 N. Winding Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86314.
