Barbara L. Mahanke, 76, of Chino Valley, Arizona, born September 5, 1930, in Goodwin, S.D., passed away April 30, 2007, in Prescott, Arizona.

Barbara Mahanke of Chino Valley, Arizona, formerly of La Mesa, California, passed away at Yavapai Regional Medical Center West in Prescott, Arizona, on April 30, 2007. Barb was born in Goodwin, South Dakota, on September 5, 1930, to Herman and Sigrid Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry; her parents; her sister Dolly Bowers; and brother Merlyn Johnson.

Barb is survived by her son Dan; daughter-in-law Randea of Chino Valley, Arizona; sister Mona Bradshaw of Thomson, Illinois; brother Herman Johnson, Jr. of Sioux City, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barb was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. Barb was a wonderful woman who cared deeply about her family and loved her dog Penny. She was a true friend to many and all who knew her loved her and treasured their times and conversations with her. She will be greatly missed by all.

Barb retired in 1983 from SDSU Aztec Shops as an accounts payable clerk. She enjoyed canning, baking and candy making for her special friends. She loved gardening, birds, traveling to visit family and camping with her family and friends.

Services are private. Arrangements by Chino Valley Funeral Home.
