Emma Matilda Chesley
February 8, 1922 - November 24, 2013
Emma M. Damron Chesley, 91, of Globe, AZ passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Copper Mt. Inn Care Center in Globe. Emma was born in Thatcher, AZ to Elzy and Emma Naylor Damron on February 8, 1922. Emma was the fourth of six children, all of whom have preceded her in death – William, Florence, Leveta, Wallace and Marvin.
Emma’s father passed away when Emma was only eight years old. She and the other children learned to work hard to provide for the family’s needs. Emma began waitressing in her teens and continued to make this her profession throughout the years. She was a diligent worker and loved people. Over the years, she lived in Texas, California and Arizona. She returned to Arizona in 1984, married a high school friend, Loren Chesley, and settled with him in Globe. She was widowed in October 2004.
Although Emma was never blessed with children of her own, she was a favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews. She spent a great deal of time caring for them and being involved in their lives. Emma enjoyed serving others and made many good friends over the years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and active in her Globe ward as long as she was able.
Services for Emma will be conducted on Saturday, November 30, 2013 with a viewing at 12:00 p.m. and the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Thatcher Cemetery.
