Ronald Verdino, Sr., 63, born Sept 16, 1942, passed away on March 5,2006, from complications of liver disease while awaiting a transplant.

Originally from Chicago, Ill., he and his family moved to Phoenix in 1971. He worked as a superintendent for several major construction companies in the Valley.

He met his 2nd wife Kathy, in the early '80s.

After moving to Prescott, they were married on Dec. 31, 1987, the same day that Ron was notified that he had passed his General Contractors test.

He and his brother, Ralph, founded Hilltop Construction. In 1994 Ralph retired, then Ron and Kathy established Hilltop Builders.

Ron became disabled in 1999 and was forced to retire, but loved it, as it allowed him and Kathy to spend all their time together doing things they enjoyed.

Ron touched the lives of many people. He was an honest man who took great pleasure and pride in everything he undertook.

Those who knew and loved him will miss him terribly, especially his special brand of humor, his love of life and his devotion to family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Kathy; two sons, Ron Jr. and wife Chrissy, and Paul; one stepson, Jason Hayden; one grandchild, Vincent; brothers, Ralph and wife Pat, Rick and wife Ruby; sister Betty Ann; along with numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

Arrangements entrusted to Best Funeral Services. There will be no services, at Ron's request, but there will be a celebration of his life for family and friends at a later date.

Ron's passing could have been prevented if more transplant organs were available. In view of this fact, the family is asking that each person consider promoting organ donation amongst their own family and friends, as a way of saving lives that need not be lost.
